Baskets Review on FX Networks

The Baskets family sent us a holiday basket complete with a man bun. (If you look closely you can see my hubby is wearing the man bun – of course!) lol. He’s a big cheese ball.

My Review of Baskets on FX Networks

We’ve all said at one time or another that our family is “SO dysfunctional!” (If you haven’t, I’m here to tell you that you probably have more of a dysfunctional family than most and you’re just in denial. Ha!) Thank God – or FX Networks, depending on how religious you are – for shows like Baskets. The Baskets family makes any family look ‘sane’ and ‘normal in comparison. 🙂

My hubby loves Zach Galifianakis so when season 1 of Baskets aired he had to watch. Not gonna lie, I tend to roll my eyes at some of the shows he likes, but I couldn’t help but get into this one, too. This family is so whacko, yet so real. It’s a non-stop laugh fest when you watch them and all of their shenanigans.

Catchin’ You Up To Speed

If you missed season 1 you should binge watch now. If you don’t have time to binge watch before the premiere of season 2 (this Thursday – January 19th at 10 on FX) then I’ll catch ya up to speed: Chip Baskets (Zach Galifianakis) wants to fulfill his dream of being a French clown, but reality keeps getting in the way. First of all, he can’t even speak French. Secondly, he can barely buy dinner let alone try to financially make a whole new clown business work. While pursuing his dream of becoming a French clown he works as a rodeo clown.

The thing that makes this family so relatable is the sibling rivalry he and his brother have. Chip is a twin. He and his twin brother, Dale, are constantly trying to one up each other in order to win their mother’s approval and affection.

In a nutshell, Baskets is very silly but the emotion it brings is very real. At every twist and turn in this show you will find yourself chuckling at the clumsiness of the characters (primarily Chip) but you’ll also find yourself feeling for them and their struggles.

Oh goody, you can really see the man bun here…and that’s white baby powder that he just HAD to put on his face in order to look like Chip Baskets. P.S. His face was SO DRY within minutes. What a weirdo…he fits right in with the Baskets family. lol.

Season 2 of Baskets Premieres Thursday, Jan. 19th at 10pm on FX

Season 2 of Baskets looks like it is going to be filled with even more laughs…but also more drama. I watched the trailer and it looks like Chip is still trying to get a gig as a clown — all the while he loses his wife and his rodeo job. Trying to find a [cheap] way to get the heck outta town his momma tells him to just jump on the train and hitch a ride that way … which he does but he doesn’t get far. He runs into a gang of gutter punks, troubles with the police and eventually a sudden death bring him right back to the drama he was trying to escape.

On a positive note, momma Baskets decides to take her happiness into her own hands and begins a relationship with a man who isn’t one of her sons…let the romance begin. Oooh la la.

Sure, the Baskets family is a bit dysfunctional, but they will fill you with laughter over their dumb antics and some of the silly things they say (did you see the trailer for season 2 yet)?! Ha! I gotta admit, I can’t wait to curl up with my hubby and watch this crazy, loving, FUNNY family.

Season 2 of Baskets premieres Thursday, January 19th at 10PM on FX. Let me know if you’ve seen this show or if this is the type of show you like to watch in the comments below.
