Married At First Sight: Derek Schwartz Tells All; Kourtney Kardashian Should Read

Ladies, I had a chat with Mr. Derek Schwartz before tonight’s reunion episode of Married At First Sight. He shared with me some hidden talents and a celeb crush. Find out where he’s at and what he’s up to NOW!

How do you feel about the show being over?

I am sad the show is over! It was so much fun watching it each week and sharing the excitement with the community. For the past few months Tuesday has been my favorite day of the week and I will definitely be missing that.

Derek, You had a rough marriage & a fast divorce. What’s something you learned from your experience?

I have learned so many things from my experience but one of the most important things I learned is to always believe in myself. Even when things seem difficult, stay true to who you are and things will work out in the end.

Would you ever do Married At First Sight again?

I would definitely try something similar but marrying a stranger more than once seems like a bad idea lol. Perhaps we could go on a few dates or skip straight to the honeymoon.

How are you & Heather now? 

We are the same as we were before we met.

What do you see/hope for in your future?

I see myself finding the woman I have been looking for and building a happy life together. I am not sure how or when I will find her, but I know I will.

What is your ideal type? Has that changes since MAFS?

When the experts asked me about my ideal type I told them it was Kourtney Kardashian and that still has not changed. If Kourtney watches Married At First Sight hopefully she is a fan of mine as well.

Has your life changed since MAFS? If so, how?

Certain aspects of my life are a bit different now. Sometimes people recognize me in public places and like to talk to me about the show or take a picture together. I really enjoy that and love meeting fans of the show. So if you ever see me, please come by and say hello. 🙂

Derek, you have a hidden talent! You’ve been holding out on us!

I have been making music since before I joined the navy at 18. I spoke with Dr. Pepper about it (and even rapped for her in one of our interviews) and it was even listed in my bio on the FYI website. With that being said, I chose not to speak about it or make it a focal point during the season because I wanted to make sure that it was clear that my marriage was my top priority.

With the show ending, I thought it would be a great time to finally share the song as it could provide some insight into what happened on our honeymoon behind the scenes and when the cameras weren’t rolling.

Throughout the process I worked on music as I always do. Creating music has always been the best way for me to get things off of my chest. So when I got back from Puerto Rico – after everything I had been through, all of the emotions, the ups and downs -I decided I wanted to write a song about it.

I wrote it the day after I got back from the honeymoon which was probably day 8 of the marriage. This was during the time I was awaiting Heather’s decision so I was still hopeful that we were going to be able to continue the process over the next 5 weeks or so.

In the song I talk about how I felt early on in the honeymoon, what happened while we were there and how I felt at the end of it.
