What is she hiding???

Jessica Thompson

So here’s how I met my new friend, Jessica: Craigslist. Yep, the sketchy craigslist. But before you think she is a serial killer from a woman wanted ad let me explain (and you might end up thinkin’ I am the serial killer!) lol

My blog has grown INCREDIBLY since day one. You guys are so awesome!!! I literally cannot keep up with it all. (I am LOVING getting to know you guys and gaining more fraaans through my blog!) So, I did what any sane blogger does. I quit my job. ….umm, no. jk. That will never happen. I love ALL of my jobs! I am a registered nurse and a jewelry maker which led to me becoming an entrepreneur and a small business owner. On top of that, I’m writing my first book AND I blog weekly. And, I just CANNOT stop working at any of the above. I am seriously passionate about all of these jobs. So, I thought about how I could keep all of my jobs and still perform well at each of them.

For Jewelry Help: My in-laws. You all know how awesome my in laws are! Doug Sr. offered (twice) to help out. I thought maybe he was just being nice so I just politely said ‘thanks’ without expecting he’d mention it again. …sometimes I cannot believe how lucky I am to have been arranged into the Hehner fam. Doug and Bonnie are now helping me respond to some emails and ship out my jewelry packages! I know, I am BEYOND BLESSED.

For Blogging Help: I posted an ad on Craigslist. :-O  This ad said something like “TV personality looking for writer to intern on her website.” I didn’t think of the fact that would totally seem sketch. lol. ( I was just hoping it’d grab attention out of the hundreds of ads on craigslist.)  Luckily, I did get a few good candidates email me back. To make the ad seem so much less sketch, I arranged our first meeting at a rural coffee shop. (Why didn’t I go for a Starbucks in town? No wonder Jess’ mom was worried sick about her meeting this “TV Personality” needing a writer. lol!)

Meet My New Friend (In Blue)

Hey everyone! I am so happy to introduce myself to you all! My name is Jessica Thompson and I just recently linked up with the lovely Jamie as her new intern! I am so excited to be working with her and even more excited to be able to share my writing with all of you.

I figured I would give you all a little run down of myself, that way you’ll feel like you know me. I already feel like I’ve known her for years. I am a freelance writer here in New Jersey (literally right on the Jersey Shore… The beach is inches away outside my front door.) People always say if you’re terrible at one thing, you’ll master another. That must be the case here with me because writing has always been a passion of mine, whereas math, that’s a whole different story! Girl, I feel ya! lol

I'll drink to that.

I fell in love with writing even more after I had taken my first creative writing class in college. My professor was amazing and let US write about whatever was inspiring us that day. There was really no set curriculum and I think that made it easier to grow and learn. From there I became an intern for the Brooklyn Paper. That was a lot of fun and I ate A LOT of delicious Brooklyn Pizza (thank god for cleanses, am I right?!) Then from there I started to do some freelance work for NJ News the online addition. I had the pleasure of meeting so many successful people that lived right in my neighborhood!

I have to say 2015 was really my year though. Not only did I get to marry my high-school sweetheart, Austin (whom I write about A LOT. So you’ll feel like you know him personally too) but I became a writer for StoryChick Magazine. This has been the most AMAZING experience! I was at New York’s Fashion Week interviewing MODELS! I mean, talk about a job with all the perks! I’ve also sat down with comedians such as Vinny Fasline, and artists like Alyssa Bonagura. And all of that has lead me here, to working with Jamie! You could say I’m pretty lucky! I am also in the midst of writing my FIRST BOOK, so stay tuned for that!

Guys, welcome Jessica! Reach out to her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram! SO excited to have her on our team! AND a heartfelt THANK YOU to you guys for enjoying my blogs and coming back for me! Thank God Jess wasn’t sketch because now we all have a new friend. (That sounded so Adult Version Barney – I’ve been around my nieces and nephews too long. Their cartoons are blurring into my thoughts.) 😛

xoxo,

Jamie

  1. Hey Ladies- really enjoying your prose and perspective. Been glued to MAFS from the beginning and it is quite enjoyable following Jamie’s various subsequent paths. Oh, by the way, if you were ever wondering if your appeal went beyond the 20-, 30-, or 40- somethings, I am 55 going on 56 ! And proud of it . Best of luck, and welcome, Jessica! Susan Hayes

  2. I think you need a new assistant…..there is a clear picture of your login information on the website! 🙁
