My New Year’s Resolution

With the new year coming I’ve been thinking about making a new year’s resolution. I always did when I was younger. I’d stick to it for about a week or two and then I became part of the 99% of Americans who failed to keep their new year’s resolution(s). After a while I just stopped making them because I hate feeling like a failure.

yep, I was in Miss New York USA. yep, I used to look like this. (INSERT BAWLING EMOJI HERE) lol

No, I didn't become Miss New York USA.

But, yes! I did win MISS CONGENIALITY! Whoop, whoop! :-D

Married Life

Ever since Doug and I were married all of my healthy eating and exercising has gone out the window. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve gained some weight. Not just weight, but I’ve gained bad habits.

  • eat way too much fried/junk/sugary/processed food
  • haven’t been to the gym/worked out for months
  • don’t drink enough water
  • I’ve become very lazy 🙁
This was me Christmas Eve with the Hehner family. Eek!

My New Year’s Resolution (And I’m sticking to it)

I’ve learned a couple things in my 29 years of life: don’t set unrealistic expectations, you’ll end up failing and if you expect nothing you’ll appreciate everything. I used to set goals that were really unattainable. So, this year I am making my new year’s resolution very EASY. I think it will help me gain confidence in ME when I am able to keep these resolutions!

  • drink at least 8 glasses of water each day
  • eat at least one serving of fruits AND veggies each day
  • work out for at least 10 minutes EVERY day (don’t have to break a sweat, but just do it!)
  • lose the 5 pounds I’ve gained (because if I don’t it’ll be 10 pounds by this time next year. AHH, NO!)

***I am sharing this with you all so I have people who hold me accountable. 😀 Would you guys wanna do this with me? We could hold each other accountable! 🙂

Skinny On The Outside & Fat On The Inside

Ever heard of such a thing? Yeah, it does exist. And, I don’t want that to be me. I want to look and feel fit. This isn’t just about losing weight for me. It is about becoming HEALTHY and ACTIVE again. One day I want to be a mom. I want to be the kind of mom who gets down and plays with her kids and runs around in the yard with them. The way I’ve been eating and living I don’t have the energy to do these things anymore (and I’m only 29!!!)

Guys, meet my best friend from like 13 years old: Elya! You can call her Ells or Ellies if you want. :-)

Elya’s Plexus “Pink /Drink”

Have you guys heard of this yet? Ells has been raving about her “pink drink.” I’ve seen a lot of friends all over facebook drinking their “pink drinks.” They claim to have oh-so much energy and their drinks taste oh-so good. They say they no longer need 10 cups of coffee a day and that they have been losing weight WITHOUT dieting on tasteless carb/fat/calorie free diets. And, all these women say this “pink drink” gives them lots of energy at the gym. I’m definitely willing to give it a try!

God, please let this pink drink be as amazing as my friends say it is.

Let’s Keep Our New Year’s Resolution

Doug, Elya and I agreed to try this EASY New Year’s resolution together. I told Elya I’d drink the “pink drink” with her, but Doug immediately wanted nothing to do with it. Lol, go figure! Do you want to join our New Year’s Resolution? (You obviously can have your own goals & you certainly don’t have to drink the pink drink. lol. But the idea is that we can support each other!)

Plexus Slim A.K.A The “Pink Drink”

Here is the link for the “pink drink” for those of you who wanna learn more about it. (After one try of this drink I loved it & just totally went all out – I signed up through Elya to be an ambassador.)  I hope it helps us actually stick to our goals! WE WILL CONQUER THIS TOGETHER! (I really wish there were emojis for my blogs! I’d put the twinsie dance girls there!)

I’m excited we have a circle of encouragement and support! Together we will stick to our New Year’s Resolution this year! 🙂 This is going to be a lot of fun!

P.S You gotta see the BEHIND THE SCENES Vid to our 2cd annual Ugly Hehner Holiday Card. IT’S SO FUNNY!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

  1. I’m soooo happy for you Jamie!!! Welcome to the pink side! Plexus has been a total life changer for me! I started in February to just lose the rest of my baby weight. Not only did I lose just about all of it, but I sleep better, have more energy, and just FEEL healthier overall. I no longer toss and turn ALL NIGHT LONG. I don’t need NAPS during the day anymore. My sugar cravings are way down, I don’t eat as much as I used to, and I actually CRAVE healthier foods and water now which is incredible! These products have changed everything and I can now actually enjoy hanging out with my 18 month old son without feeling like all I want to do is sleep lol Plexus hasn’t only changed my health, but our family’s wealth as well. I used to work 3 jobs. I am now down to one and only subbing 1-2 days as week so that I can stay home with my son more. We are also paying off our credit cards one by one! We PAID OFF 4 THIS MONTH! Woot woot! Plexus has truly been a blessing for us Best financial decision we’ve ever made.

    1. That is so awesome! Congrats! If plexus “pink drink” can do one thing for me it is NO MORE NAPS! I am so tired during the day. I want to boost up my energy! 🙂

  2. I’ve been doing the pink drink and using Plexus products for a few months now and I LOVE it!!! What great resolutions! Drinking more water is one of mine too! So glad you decided to join us!

  3. Hey Jamie! I love your realistic New Year’s resolution and I am going to join you on it! I’ve gained weight after giving birth to two wonderful girls (I am 33) and I’ve recently broken my candy strikes, twice in a month 😉 So maybe this is something I can do and feel fuller = not need candy?

    1. My sugar cravings are completely under control, I’ve been on Plexus products for 10 months and I will never look back! Not only that, but the last few lbs gone, the extra, steady energy all day & the sleep, THE SLEEP IS AMAZING!

  4. I love you and Douglas. I am so glad.that you two have made it work. I would love to read your book when it’s released. Blessings to you both in the New Year.

  5. Just so you know… I think you are beautiful in every way! It doesnt show that you have put on weight! Honestly! But I know the feeling… Count me in! Your New Year’s resolutions are very good! I want to lose about 10 pounds before summer and I believe it’s achievable! With quite small efforts I think I can pull it through… Almost midnight in Sweden now so with hope of a healthier 2016 I wish u a Happy New Year! Btw, I am enjoying the snow! 😉
XoXo from the nothern parts of Europe!

      1. Yeah! Lets do this! Better late than never right? I really feel…. how do you say… driven? I have a goal and damn, I’m gonna fight for it! Pardon my French! The Pink drink sounds good and maybe I will try it! I have my own morning drink. I just squeeze a slice of lemon into a cup of warm water! But one need not exclude the other! A combination perhaps?! I also have promised myself to increase my weekly physical exercise to four times instead of three. I hope that will show some results if nothing else will. Thanks for being such an inspiration Jamie and I’m sure you can do this too! We can support each other right? Looking forward to reading about your progress!

        1. you should be SO proud of your working out three days a week! that is three times more than I did for hte last six months. …hoping to change that this year! So far, so good! 🙂 thanks for joining me! We will support each other! 🙂

  6. Hi! I’ve really enjoyed getting to know you through the tv show and your blog! We have A LOT in common! In college I was a good healthy weight. Since the birth of my girls, I had never lost the extra *ahem* 42 pounds I had gained but in July I decided to try just changing small things. I stopped drinking soda. I only drink flavored water, water, and milk with an occasional lemonade or hot chocolate! I made some substitutions like ground turkey for ground beef and coconut oil for other cooking oils…. I have lost 32 pounds!! Only ten more to go!!!! Now I just need to figure out the exercise thing! Making that, and joy my new years resolutions!!!!

    1. aww, thanks so much! I genuinely enjoy getting to know you guys too! 🙂 Congrats on your healthy weigt loss! So happy we get to do this together! 🙂 Happy New year! (p.s you should def look into that plexus pink drink.I really like it!)

  7. Jamie after I read your blog I nearly fell off my couch I too will be starting the “pink drink” on Jan 1 2016 I am beyond excited to be along side with you on this journey each year I make the annual “news year resolutions” but not this year I did have a long conversation with my husband about breaking bad habits as well so I guess you can say it is a resolution but really not lol anyway I am beyond excited I am ready to start I look forward to being part of the accountability team. Ps thank you for the Christmas card it is top on our tree near the star -Audrey

    1. YAY!! that is so exciting! You’re the very first person to begin the “pink drink” with me!!! Let’s DO THIS! 😀 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

  8. I’m totally in and want the same thing. After numerous health issues (autoimmune diseases) I need to regain my self esteem. Have been researching ways to work out that will be easier for me. And like you I have been eating JUNK because my hubby can eat anything and not gain a ounce. This has always made me mad, just once I would love for him to walk in my shoes. I firmly believe that all men should go through menstrual cycles, child birth, menopause, etc..enough of the rant lol.. I hope you and Doug have a very Happy New Years!!!!

  9. Jamie I totally hear you on the water intake. It’s SO tough for me to get in the habit and it drives me crazy!!! Especially living in Denver where is even more important at elevatio to stay hydrated. I actually think it really affects my energy.

    1. I agree! I think if we turned to water instead of coffee we may have more energy just because we are WELL HYDRATED lol 🙂 Happy New Year!

  10. Happy New Year! I’m doing the same steps you said here. Drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day, our toilets might start getting mad at us. 😉 Involving fruits and veggies in meals. Also exercising. Ugh! I look forward to your new book and being on this journey with you. If I lived closer (NC)we could take walks together and end with a glass of wine. 😉 ha! I’ll be praying for you today.

  11. It seems like EVERY year I have the same resolution Jamie! Get healthier, eat clean food, exercise, cut out processed food blah blah blahI’m turning 49 next month and DON’T want to keep yo-yoing anymore!!! So let’s do this together!! I want my dreams to come true this year…healthy AND a husband as wonderful as Doug. HAPPY NEW YEAR JAMIE! WE CAN DO THIS!

    1. YES! WE CAN DO IT!!! (insert photo of the woman from Uncle Sam .. you know what I’m talking about, right? lol) 🙂 HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
