Dunkin’ Donuts

When I married into the Hehner family it’s like I married into Dunkin’ Donuts. Doug Sr. and Bonnie Hehner are OBSESSED with Dunkin’ Donuts – and so is every single one of their children. I swear they go there every day for their coffee (and I’m not even exaggerating)!

After we moved in with my in laws I told ‘em they should open their own store just so they could get their coffee and donuts at wholesale! 😛 We are at dunkin donuts so often that our local Dunkin’ Donuts knows each of our orders:

Me: Small Americano black (or black iced coffee in summer – trying to be healthy here!) 😛
Doug: Large Iced Coffee with two shots of espress, black.
Bonnie: Medium hot coffee with milk only
Doug Sr.: He used to drink the same as my hubby, Doug – iced coffee with espresso shots but I introduced him to the Americano and I am proud to say I converted him over! 🙂

Usually when we go to Dunkin’ it’s for a donut and/or coffee, but now they have added so many breakfast foods (that they serve all day long) that we’ll go in for breakfast, too!

My hubby’s favorite: the new Sweet Black Pepper Bacon Breakfast sandwich with the hash browns. Say that five times fast. 😛 It’s served on a croissant and has FOUR pieces of crispy, delicious bacon in one sandwich! YUM, YUM, YUM!

Today we are all heading down to a cute town in New Jersey called Smithsville. It’s an adorable place with lots of mom and pop shops filled with everything from decorations to psychics to soaps. You park your car and walk through town – going in and out of the shops to see the new things they have every year is so FUN. But before we go we always stop at Dunkin’s to grab a hot coffee to keep our hands warm in between shops. I love this time of the year. It’s always so fun to celebrate the holidays!

And this is after. What a little pigger! lol

What does it take to be a good wife? God knows I had some trouble figuring that out. My past threatened my future, but I learned how to stop that from happening. If you’re struggling in the dating world — or if you’re engaged, a newlywed, a long time married veteran, you will feel a lot better about your relationship after reading about mine in my new book, Wifey 101: Everything I Got Wrong After Meeting  Mr. Right!

  1. I laughed at this post. I was born and raised in the Boston area and presently live in a suburb just west of Boston. DD was born here too and for as long as I can remember, shops have dotted cities and towns in this area. They are a natural part of the landscape.
I am not even as close to hooked as the Hehner family but I did purchase 100 shares of DD stock when it finally went public a few years back. I had read that the logo…American Runs on Dunkin, adopted a number of years ago…was a foreshadowing of the company expanding across the country and eventually going public. I figured buying a little stock was a no brainer. So thanks to folks like the Hehner Family, my stock value has risen since purchase.
Finally, if you did not see Saturday Night Live last night (12/17), check out the skit just after the opening monologue. Casey Affleck plays the ultimate Boston Dunkin Donut guy. Between the perfect Boston accent..it should be as he is was raised in Cambridge…and the character, it was hysterical.
Merry Christmas to you and Doug and your combined families. I hope the New Year brings you all much happiness, many blessings and peace.

  2. I love how you two spend time with both of your extended family. But, the best part is you both love your extended family and enjoy spending time with family. You’re in laws seem like the sweetest, easy to talk too, don’t take no mess, tell it like it is ppl, that everybody wants to be around, because of their honesty & all the other stuff I mention (I forgot l bet their really funny too). And I love how your family always involve your nieces & nephews in all the celebrations & it looks like yall always have a bunch of laughs & good times whenever you’re together that last all day & night. Family is a blessing and a lot of ppl don’t realize that until it’s too late. I’m glad you both know he importance of family.
