Fast Hair Tutorial

Y’all have been begging me for info on my skin, makeup, lashes, clothes and HAIR! How about a super duper fast hair tutorial??!! I figured that’d be a great surprise Christmas gift to my favorite peeps! (I LOVE SURPRISES!)

Merry Christmas, Guys!

Can you keep a Secret?

I usually only wash my hair every other day. And because I use dry shampoo I literally wear this hair style all day, then go to sleep, wake up, lightly comb through my hair (or throw back in a pony) and then run all of my errands the next day before having to wash and re-do my hair! It’s a hair style that lasts for two full days with light curls and no greasy hair. If you’re saying ‘Umm, yes please!’ then just watch my fast hair tutorial video below. (It’s less than 5 minutes long!) 🙂

P.S. Keep these products below in mind while watching. I’m providing you direct links via Amazon. You can create this same exact look!

So, what’d ya think of my Fast Hair Tutorial? Super easy, right?! As promised, here are the direct links to each product I used. The great thing about Amazon is that they ship right to your front door. You don’t even have to get out of your Christmas pjs!!! YAYAYAY!!!!

Let me know what you guys think about the video and products in the comments below! I answer every question! :-)

Products Used In My Fast Hair Tutorial:

GOT2BE FATASTIC – Right after showering, use golf ball sized amount and place at the roots of your hair. Blend lightly throughout ends. Blow dry hair with your head upside down. (I know that sounds old-school but there’s a reason for this! It keeps your hair from sticking flat to your head – more volume!!!)

BATISTE DRY SHAMPOO – This stuff is so awesome for brunettes. Regular dry shampoo leaves a white tint (even after brushing into hair). I don’t usually prefer one product in particular, but if you’re a brunette I DEFINITELY recommend this dry shampoo above all others. (No, batiste didn’t pay me thousands to say that. Though I wish they did!) 😉

RUSK W8LESS Hairspray – My two favorite qualities about this: It’s light. It Doesn’t leave your hair crunchy or stiff. This hairspray let’s your style have bounce in all the right places, but yet still stay in tact throughout the day. (Re-apply hairspray the second day to help hold the light curls for another day.)

SULTRA – One of my all time favorite curling irons (or wands). I’ve literally had this for about 5 years and it still works! It comes with a glove to protect your hand from burning. (Clearly I never use this .. as a matter of fact, I can’t even find it anymore. lol.) I do recommend using this glove if you haven’t worked with a wand before. They’re different than your average curling iron. Let me know if you guys need a little video on how to curl your hair with a wand. I’d be glad to make one if you need it!

SUAVE DRY SHAMPOO – This dry shampoo is a little less expensive than Batiste and I think it works just as well to remove the grease and help hold your style. If you’re a blonde, light red head, strawberry blonde, or dirty blonde you’re in luck! You can save a few bucks on dry shampoo! This suave smells so good, too!

Thanks for watching my Fast Hair Tutorial

I hope you guys enjoyed this! Please let me know in the comments below what you liked/didn’t like about this blog. I love hearing back from you guys because I want to give you guys exciting blogs filled with lots of helpful, fun, awesome information!

Oh, and for those of you who subscribe to my site – go check your inbox! I left another little surprise for you. For those of you haven’t subscribed to my site yet – what are you waiting for??? You’re missing out!

You can trust me

As always, I want to be 100% honest. I love making these videos and giving you guys tips and tricks, but I could never afford to do this without providing affiliate links. In stead of “endorsing” and taking hundreds to thousands of dollars from a product I never use (and have no idea if it actually even works), I choose to show you the products that I DO use daily. I KNOW that these are truly really great products so I feel confident sharing them with you – I think you will love them as much as I do! I wish the companies behind my favorite products would pay me boat loads of cash to “endorse” them! How awesome would that be?! I’d get paid to share my favorite brands with you! But I haven’t gotten a call back yet so instead of just choosing the company who will fork over hundreds to endorse their random product I choose to take a smaller, more honest, commission. Each time you buy a product through one of my links I earn a small commission, but you pay absolutely NOTHING extra!!! That is one of the main reasons I like working with Amazon, it’s a win-win situation for everyone! 🙂 (I could never keep my blogs alive without this, so thank you!)

xoxo,

Jamie

  1. I don’t see a link… For the batiste. I’m a brunette and so over the white tint that makes me look like I’m going gray!

  2. I have been very interested in this curling iron since I have seen you use it. Could you please do a curling tutorial?? I would absolutely love you more!! 🙂

  3. Hey Jamie! Hope you and Doug had a Merry Christmas! Thank you for caring about your MAFS First Year fans. I do want to get a Sultan wand or something comparable to it. Love you and your sweet husband! February is just a month away, can’t wait to watch brand new eps!

  4. I wonder why you didn’t tell in the beginning that you had straightened your hair before you did all this? Or hadn’t you? It just looks so straight and flat.

    1. Definitely didn’t straighten my hair. I just blow it dry and that is what I get. I have pin straight, flat hair. SO of course I want the complete opposite. lol

  5. Just got my 1.5″ Sultra yesterday and the Got2Be should be arriving shortly.

I’ve never used a curling iron before. I tried it out today, and I guess I need to practice, practice, practice. How long do you recommend to hold the hair around the Sultra?

I have straight shoulder length hair, and I rolled it but it came out pretty straight. Might my hair be too short to curl?

Any suggestions are most welcome. (Maybe I just need to add the Got2BE when I receive it, and it will work out better then….)

    1. Like anything else I definitely recommend practicing! 🙂 I hold hair on iron until it feels warm to touch on my finger. (I hold the very tips of hair on iron and when it gets warm I know my hair is curled.) I will have to make you guys a sultra tutorial video because it is a bit too complicated to type. keep your eyes open for it. I’ll try to do asap. XOXO

  6. I loved you on the show and following you on IG. I never received my Christmas card 🙁
But I hope you both have a Happy New year

  7. Jamie, you brighten my day with your relationship and hair tips! I have been married for 17 years and am struggling with boredom in my marriage at the moment. Something that has really helped me is the book called Four Seasons of Marriage by Gary Chapman. Thought you may enjoy too! I am in winter right now but looking forward to springtime or summer! It will make sense if you check out the book at the library. Thanks again for this great email! Love from Florida!!

  8. Jamie,
Thank you so much for the lovely Christmas Card! I feel like I know you as a personal friend just by all that you do and how open you are and again I must say thank you! Watching your experience has without a doubt shaped my life! Also quick update, I’ve been seeing some one new and it seems serious :)! I ordered your spoon necklace as a ‘symbol’ of how happy I am, and I’ve gotten tons and tons of complements! I don’t think I’d be at this place if it was not for you, and it’s only fitting that your necklace design would be available to display how over the moon I am in life right now!
Thank you again, and happy new year!
    Meg

    1. aww, meg! that is so sweeeet! I hope your love lasts a lifetime and more! (just keep spooning. it works like magic) 😉

So, So, So glad you like my Spoon Me necklace! Happy New year!

      xoxo

  9. Hi Jamie…great video! Love being friends on IG and FB too! I have thick, wavy hair so a lot of the tips will not work for me unfortunately. BUT I do love the dry hair shampoo since having thick hair, I wash my hair as infrequently as I can. I use PSSST and something else I can’t remember. I have a question: you said Batiste in your video and on the site but in the link you have Rusk spray. I assume you meant to include Batiste, right? Just want to be sure I’m buying the right product…I’ll need the blonde variety. 🙂 Also, THANKS for including links to the products you use. There is nothing worse than someone putting together a video on YouTube and they briefly hold up the product but don’t provide links on where to buy…and then you go NUTS trying to find the exact right product. Not good! And yes, I think Amazon rocks too so anything that can be bought via Amazon is the best. Thanks for giving us girls such great tips!! 🙂

    1. hiii! 🙂 Batiste is the dry shampoo and the Rusk is the hairspray (too many products, lol). There’s a blonde version of the batiste dry shampoo (I didn’t include), becuase I think Suave works just as well, smells just as nice AND you can save a couple bucks. 😉 (Every dollar counts.) I have a link to the suave in there. The only reason I don’t like to use the suave is because my hair is dark.

Hope this was helpful for ya, girly! 🙂 xoxo

      1. Perfect, Jamie! 🙂 Thanks so much…just ordered the Suave product on Amazon. Reviews for Batiste Light and Blonde are pretty good too so I might try that as well. I’ve not had luck with getting just the right dry shampoo for myself so am happy to try these. I’ve even tried baby powder, but since I’m trying to cover up my roots in between shampoos, it’s a bit more complicated. Have used PSSST! since I was in my teens which was a few hundred years ago! 🙂 Thanks again for all, girlfriend! Happy New Year to you and Douglas!! (I love when you call him Douglas by the way!)

  10. I loved the hair tutorial my hair is flat and thin and I think those products would really help me with my hair

  11. Hey Jamie, love you, Doug, and the show! I’ve used your hair as inspiration at the salon – love what you do with color! 🙂 Anyway, I had to comment and say that I LOVE the Rusk W8less hairspray – I spray it on after blow drying and before flat ironing. It adds amazing body and smells great. Just wanted to share 🙂

    1. really?? aww, that is so awesome! So glad I can give you some tips on how to work with OUR hairstyle. 🙂 xoxoxo

  12. Hey Jamie, loved your video, lots of great tips, I have very fine thin hair, so I have to put lots of mouse or gel on the top of my roots, and lightly though out, my hair. But I’m going to try the dry shampoo every other day, and also the Got 2b fantastic thickening to see how that does. thanks girl, your such a Doll !!!!!!!

  13. Hi Jamie,

What size Sultra wand do you use ?
And it would be awesome if you could do a tutorial on how you use yours.
I just love you and Doug and Lady. You are an absolute inspiration to me. Happy New Year and many blessings.

  14. I love how you do your hair style. Video is great! And I never experience dry shampoo YET!.. also love your jewerly.. I’m deaf.. probably not have one deaf fan I am sure. Hope I am your first one:) Have a blessed day! LAURA

  15. Thanks so much for a straightforward and honest video. Could we please take you up on your offer of a follow up on how to use the curling iron? I try but always end up looking like I have had an electric shock!

Merry Christmas to you,, Doug and Lady.

    1. haha, of course …I’ll make a quick video showing you exactly how to use it! Keep your eyes open for this! 🙂 P.S love your email name “Mummy Monster.”

  16. Thanks for another Christmas gift! Love the hair tutorial, I’m going to have to try that. Look forward to more of the tutorials. You are just the sweetest. I hope you had the best Christmas. Merry Christmas! xoxo

  17. Hey Jamie! I recently started using Batiste dry shampoo as well and love, love, love it! I think its more affordable than many dry shampoo’s out there and gives awesome volume! I’m also a big Rusk fan, but have really only used the thermal heat spray consistently. I’ll give the hairspray a try. Great tutorial, please keep them coming!

    1. oh my gosh, you will LOVE their hairspray. I also use their “thickR” hairspray. So Good. (PS don’t tell Doug I told ya, but bc he’s thinning he secretly likes to use the thickR too lol. He’s SO cute!) 😀

  18. I love how you use and combine different hair products to create your hair style. I really enjoyed the video, it was simple and to the point.

  19. Definitely going to look into that curling iron….

I found that the dry shampoo made my hair stiff and then the hair came out in my comb when I brushed it. How do you avoid that?

    1. For the dry shampoo you don’t want to use a lot of it. A little bit goes a long way. Also, make sure you brush the dry shampoo into your hair. Let me know how it works for you when you try it again! 🙂
